In the hands of Michael Montgomerie, some of Taranaki’s top racehorse have taken new form.
The 26-year-old graphic design graduate was commissioned by the Taranaki JC to paint a selection of horses who have gained champion status while trained at New Plymouth.
The completed work – painted with the aid of a air brush – will be on public display for the first time at the TJC’s Lion Red Classic meeting on Monday.
Taking pride of place on the “Wall of Fame” in the lounge of the public stand are the caricatures of La Mer, Poetic Prince and Rough Habit. Montgomerie recently graduated from a graphic design course at Taranaki Polytechnic.
He is hoping the just-completed art work will help gain him further job offers within racing.
